Reports to: Operations Supervisor (until a Seller Growth Supervisor is in place)
About Yasu Express
Yasu Express is a dynamic, high-growth startup dedicated to solving the complex challenge of last-mile delivery for small and medium-sized businesses in Ethiopia. Our mission is to build the urban logistics infrastructure for commerce across Africa, starting in Addis Ababa.
Purpose of the Position
The Seller Growth Officer increases orders from existing Sellers on Yasu Express. Through daily engagement and follow-up, the role maximizes the number of active Sellers and the orders each active Seller places, prioritizing effort across thousands of Sellers. It also brings Seller insight back to the team so Yasu can improve its operations, business strategy and technology.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Engagement, Growth & Retention
• Engage and follow up with Sellers every day, by visit, call or message, to keep as many Sellers active as possible and win back dormant ones.
• Increase orders per active Seller and develop promising Sellers into regular 40+ order Sellers, using a written growth plan for each priority Seller.
2. Seller Segmentation & Prioritization
• Group all assigned Sellers into clear segments, such as order volume, growth potential and risk, so effort goes where it adds the most orders across thousands of Sellers.
• Keep each Seller’s segment and profile up to date, and act within two working days when a priority Seller shows risk signs such as falling orders, repeated complaints or competitor offers.
3. Service Quality & Issue Resolution
• Own each Seller’s delivery issues end to end, working with Operations and Seller Ops until they are resolved.
• Set accurate expectations on prices, delivery times and service, never promising what Yasu cannot deliver.
4. Seller Insight & Feedback
• Collect structured feedback from Sellers on delivery operations, pricing, the app and competitors, including why any Seller stops ordering.
• Share clear, prioritized findings with the team regularly so Yasu can improve its operations, business strategy and technology (software).
5. Playbook & Team Development
• Build and keep updating a Seller playbook based on reality on the ground: Seller feedback and concerns, and Yasu’s strengths and weaknesses against competitors and alternatives.
• Train and support new joiners on the playbook, tools and Seller approach until they can work independently.
6. Data, Reporting & Portfolio Reviews
• Submit an accurate daily report on Sellers’ orders, issues and actions taken, as reports are audited.
• Run a monthly portfolio review covering active Sellers, orders per active Seller, at-risk Sellers and growth actions, and present it to the manager.
7. Acquisition Support & Marketing Collaboration
• Support Junior Seller Acquisition Officers in winning new Sellers through joint visits, coaching and referrals from existing Sellers, and give feedback on handover quality.
• Work with the marketing team to reach the right potential Sellers with the right content, such as TikTok videos and other creatives, using insight from existing Sellers.
The role also takes on additional responsibilities as instructed by the manager or as business needs require.
Pay and Performance
This position carries a base salary and a monthly commission under the company’s commission policy.
• Base salary: as stated in the employment contract.
• Commission: paid under the Yasu Express commission policy in force at the time, which the company may update.
• Targets and quota: set under the same policy and communicated in writing before each month starts.
Daily reports are audited, and intentional fraud ends the contract immediately.
Other Requirements
The role suits someone who owns results and builds strong, lasting Seller relationships.
• Ownership: treats the portfolio like their own business and takes responsibility for its results.
• Relationship builder: earns Sellers’ trust through regular contact and promises kept.
• Analytical: reads order data, spots trends early and acts on them.
• Problem-solver: fixes the root cause of Seller issues with other teams, not just the symptom.
• Sense of urgency: acts fast on drops in orders and Seller issues, without waiting to be told.
• Fast-paced: comfortable in a fast-moving startup where priorities and processes change often.
• Eager to learn: asks for feedback, learns quickly and improves every month.
• Clear and open communication: shares updates, problems and results with the team clearly and transparently.
• Accurate with Sellers: gives Sellers only accurate information on prices, delivery times and service, and never overpromises. Wrong expectations backfire and damage Yasu’s reputation.
• Honest and precise: keeps every record and report accurate.
