Junior Legal Officer

About the Role
Etcare Beauty Product Sales PLC is a dynamic organization engaged in the sale of beauty products in Ethiopia. The Junior Legal Officer supports the legal and compliance function by monitoring relevant Ethiopian laws, drafting legal documents, and maintaining legal registers under the supervision of the Head of Legal & Compliance.

Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring and interpreting Ethiopian laws relevant to MLM and direct-selling operations, including commercial, consumer protection, and competition laws.
- Support the Legal Counsel / Head of Legal & Compliance in ensuring business practices comply with Proclamation No. 813/2013 prohibiting pyramid schemes.
- Help draft, review, and organize contracts, agreements, and legal correspondence with distributors, suppliers, and partners under supervision.
- Maintain accurate legal files, compliance registers, and documentation for audits and regulatory submissions.
- Assist in preparing internal compliance policies, training materials, and awareness sessions for staff and distributors.
- Support dispute resolution processes by gathering documentation, tracking cases, and coordinating with external counsel when required.
- Conduct basic legal research on regulatory developments affecting the beauty products and direct-selling sector.
- Perform other related legal and administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (LL.B) in Law from a recognized higher education institution.
- Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or regulatory body.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Amharic and English.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, integrity, discretion, and professional ethics.
- Basic knowledge of Ethiopian commercial, consumer protection, and competition laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn legal research tools.
- Familiarity with multi-level marketing, direct selling, or consumer protection issues is an advantage.
- Membership or enrollment with the Ethiopian Federal Bar Association (or equivalent) is desirable.
