Job Summary
Liyam Diagnostic Laboratory is seeking a highly qualified, structurally competent, and licensed Laboratory Head to oversee our entire diagnostic facility in Addis Ababa. The selected candidate will assume full operational, technical, and administrative leadership of the laboratory. This role ensures the highest standards of diagnostic accuracy, strict regulatory compliance, total quality management, and seamless workflow integration across all laboratory sub-departments (including Hematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Serology).
Key Responsibilities
Facility Leadership: Provide comprehensive administrative and technical direction for the entire diagnostic facility, overseeing personnel, equipment, and testing workflows.
Quality Assurance & Compliance: Maintain strict internal Quality Control (QC) and External Quality Assessment (EQA) programs to ensure the laboratory operates in alignment with global standard operating procedures and ISO 15189 guidelines.
Regulatory Management: Ensure full compliance with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health (MoH) and relevant regional regulatory bodies, keeping all facility licenses and standards up to date.
Operations & LIMS Support: Oversee the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to monitor turnaround times, guarantee digital data security, and streamline patient reporting mechanics.
Staff Supervision: Lead, mentor, and evaluate the performance of laboratory technologists, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of clinical excellence and safety.
Inventory & Equipment Control: Manage the procurement, calibration, and preventative maintenance of all diagnostic machinery, reagents, and laboratory consumables to ensure zero operational downtime.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a highly related field.
Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of active clinical laboratory experience, with at least 3 years in a distinct supervisory, section head, or managerial capacity overseeing a comprehensive diagnostic facility.
Licensure: Must possess a valid, active professional license as a Medical Laboratory Technologist from the relevant Ethiopian regulatory authority.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in handling automated laboratory instruments, troubleshooting technical issues, and navigating comprehensive LIMS software.
