Mela Academy is building an exam-prep app for Grade 6 and Grade 8 students preparing for the regional leaving exam. Our Telegram channel publishes short lessons for these students almost every day.
We are hiring practicing teachers to be the face of that channel. You will explain one concept per video in 60–90 seconds, in clear Amharic, on camera. Each video should match what students are learning in class that week.
Responsibilities
• Choose each week's concepts based on what Grade 6 or Grade 8 classes are covering, with a focus on topics students find hard.
• Draft a short outline for each video and submit it for approval before shooting.
• Record 8–10 short explainer videos per shoot day at our studio in Addis Ababa.
• Explain each concept from zero, using simple Amharic and everyday examples.
• Keep English terms and notation exactly as they appear in the textbook or exam.
• Re-shoot or revise videos based on feedback from the content team.
Requirements
• Currently teaching Grade 6 or Grade 8 at a school in Addis Ababa.
• Strong knowledge of the Ethiopian national curriculum for at least one subject: Mathematics, English, General Science, Social Studies, Citizenship or Amharic.
• Confident and natural on camera, with clear speech and a warm, engaging delivery.
• Able to explain a hard concept briefly and simply, without filler.
• Fluent in Amharic.
• Reliable and on time for scheduled shoot days.
Teaching more than one subject, or prior experience making video or social media content, is a plus.
How to apply
Send a short video to @Sabamarketingagency (Telegram Channel) on Telegram:
• Introduction (up to 1 minute): your name, the grade and subjects you teach, and your school.
A phone recording is fine. We judge clarity and delivery, not production quality. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a short trial shoot.
